It is so hard to believe that this year is almost over! I feel we have had a very successful year and cannot thank you enough for your support throughout the year. We will continue to work hard to make the most of our remaining days in school. However, I realize sports are in full swing and the beautiful weather is calling us outside to play. Therefore, I will not be sending regular homework for the last 3 weeks. BUT...please keep reading every day!
Please mark your calendars for May 15th, (8:30-9:00 am). We will be having an Author's Tea and sharing our writing from the year.
We are totally OUT of Kleenex and would appreciate any donations! :)
The CRCT begins Monday, April 16th! We will be testing Monday-Wednesday. Please be sure that your child has a healthy breakfast and plenty of sleep each day. It is very important that everyone be on time. Testing starts at 8:05. Anyone late will be held in the library until the testing session ends and a make-up test will have to be given.
There will be no homework this week! You may want to use this time to increase reading log times. Speaking of... our last Reading Night for the year will be April 23rd, 6-8 pm.
It's amazing what a difference a few months can make with a 1st grader. Our silent reading time (DEAR) used to last about 5-8 minutes before boredom and the wiggles would start. These days I get moans and groans when I say time is up after 20 minutes!! They beg for time for just "one more chapter"!! I LOVE IT!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Spring Break. If you are taking a trip I would like to suggest that your child keep a journal of the trip and share it with us when we return to school.
If you are staying in town (like me) don't forget to keep reading!!
Remember, tonight is Garrison Mill Night at the Carvel Ice Cream shop at the corner of Johnson's Ferry and Shallowford!
And if ice cream is not enough, tomorrow students may purchase 50 cent "goodies" to support our Relay for Life team. They may also wear a cap for
$1.00.
Just a reminder that Wednesday, March 7th is an Early Release day. Students will be dismissed 2 hours early. Lunch will be at 9:39.
Also, be sure to mark your calendars for Math Night on Thursday, March 8th. There will be a PTA meeting at 6:30, followed by 2 sessions of math games in our classroom. The sessions are 7:15-7:35 and 7:40-8:00. Come to our classroom for a session and visit other rooms during the other session. I look forward to seeing you!
