Parents, We have had a lot of fun learning about Classic stories, and we will be acting out the "Three Little Pigs" this week . The students have compared different versions of the stories, as well as sequenced the events. These are all part of our standards. When you read to your child daily, at the end of the story close the book and ask them questions about the characters, the setting, what happened first, next, then and last. Ask them their favorite part and if the book is fiction or nonfiction. I always tell them who the author and illustrator are so they should know what that means too. In Math we are doing movement patterns and predicting, copying and extending patterns. See what patterns your child can find around the house, while you are driving, or in nature. Today we read a book that focused on patterns on animals and food. If you find something interesting we would love for them to bring it in to share, or tell us about the pattern they found. We had fun looking at the patterns on our clothes and rest towels! Labor Day is part of our Social Studies standards, and they should know what it means. I have tried to simplify it by telling them that people all over America get an extra day off because they work so hard, and that it is always the first Monday in September. Thank you for all you do to help your student be successful!
