WILLIAM R. celebrated his 8th birthday today!  The children enjoyed the special treat provided by William and his family!

On Friday, we will have some special Fall Centers from 12:15-1:15 hosted by our moms.  A HUGE "thanks" to all of you who have helped organize, plan, teach, donate to, and supervise these centers.  Your time and efforts are so appreciated!  You are all welcome to come and join us!

 

You have been receiving invitations from the office about our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon.  This is a great time for grandparents, parents, and other friends and relatives to have a holiday meal here at GM.  Our day and time is on Thursday, Nov. 2Oth at 11:25 a.m. We will have a short skit presentation beginning at 11:00 a.m. in our room prior to lunch.  PLEASE MAKE A SPECIAL EFFORT TO COME! 

AR Night in the Media Center

The Media Center will be open on Monday, Oct. 27th from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. to host a night of reading and AR with your child.  Take advantage of this great opportunity and help your child earn those AR points early for this grading period.  The goal for 2nd Grade is 6 points!

There are many activities planned for Red Ribbon Week.  Please encourage your child to get into the spirit and to participate in these fun planned events.

Pancake Breakfast this Saturday!

Just a reminder that The Foundation is having a pancake breakfast this Saturday (Oct. 25th) from 7-11 a.m.  Preordered tickets are $5.00 and tickets at the door are $5.50.  All proceeds benefit our school!  What a nice way to kick off your weekend!

Also, a huge "congratulations" to the entire class for having 100% participation in this PTA sponsored contest!  You are amazing!

Congratulations to all of the children who earned 5 or more points in AR this quarter!  We celebrated with popcorn and a movie in Mrs. Dess' room!  Zoe and Maddie doubled their AR points this time and were also treated to a candy bar.  What a wonderful accomplishment!  Our goal for the next nine week period is 6 pts.  Start reading now to qualify for the next celebration!

Most of our class has passed their 7 minute addition test and has moved on to subtraction, mixed practice, or multiplication.  By practicing for 10 minutes per day either with flashcards, computer programs (check out the GM website for some great programs), or math games, you will be guaranteed to master those facts!  Keep up the good work!

Report cards came home today.  I know they look very different from what we have been seeing in the past.  Should you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to let me know.  Please sign the signature card and return it in the provided envelope. 

THANKS again for the generous giving of coins that were collected on Oct. 1st.  I used some of it to restock our Treasure Chest and buy treats for the room. Because of this monthly collection, I have not had to call upon any parents to "donate" items for our class.

This has been a great first nine weeks.  I so appreciate all of your help and support.
