Last week we learned about transportation and the letter Ee.  We made cute little elves for the letter E and they are absolutely adorable!!  We took pictures of the students and replaced the elves faces with the students' faces.  Please remember to look at them in the hall the next time you are here.  This week we have been learning about the letter Dd, reindeer, and day/night skies.</p>
<p><a href="http://garrisonmill.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83452aade69e201053653e6bf970b-pi" style="DISPLAY: inline"><img alt="Christmas18" border="0" class="at-xid-6a00d83452aade69e201053653e6bf970b " src="http://garrisonmill.typepad.com/.a/6a00d83452aade69e201053653e6bf970b-800wi" title="Christmas18"></img></a> Next week we will be studying "Holidays Around the World."  This is a very fun thing for the children to do.  Each kindergarten room represents a different country.  The countries will include Germany, France, China, Israel, Sweden, Holland, and Mexico.  The students rotate from class to class and learn about how the holidays are celebrated in each country.  </p>

<p>I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!  Please remember to enjoy each and every moment with your families.  I lost a very dear uncle in February of last year and my precious grandmother a few months later in April. I never thought I could lose two people so close to me in such a short period of time but it has taught me to cherish the time I have with my family!  </p>
<p>I also want to thank you for sharing your children with me!  This year has been great thus far and I am sure the rest of the year will be awesome as well!!</p>

<p><img title="School6" height="82" alt="School6" src="http://garrisonmill.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/11/07/school6.gif" width="76" border="0" style="WIDTH: 76px; HEIGHT: 82px" /> Today your child will be bringing home two at-home projects that will be due next Friday the 14th.&nbsp; One of the projects will require your child to know where he/she lives now and the state, country, and continent where he/she was born.&nbsp; &nbsp;The second project is a fun one that the whole family can get in on!&nbsp; You will get a sheet telling about the activity in your child's folder today.&nbsp; I do encourage the whole family to get involved and be creative.&nbsp; Please do not limit the project to coloring only. </p>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><img title="Hallo006" alt="Hallo006" src="http://garrisonmill.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/10/03/hallo006.gif" border="0" /> I can't believe it is October already!!&nbsp; I hope to see everyone tonight at the Fall Festival.&nbsp; I am sure it will be so much fun for the kids!&nbsp; We have now studied the letters Mm, Ss, Ff, Tt, Cc, and Aa.&nbsp; Next week we will study the letter Nn.&nbsp; The students are doing a great job on the rainbow words, so please continue to have your child study the words at home.&nbsp; </p>

<p>We had a great time with all of our 5 senses activities and everyone really enjoyed the High Touch High Tech in-school field trip.&nbsp; For the past couple of weeks we have been studying fall and apples.&nbsp; </p>

<p>Next week we will begin studying community helpers and discuss fire safety.&nbsp; If you have not done so already, please talk with your child about a fire escape plan for your home.&nbsp; The children will be sharing his/her home fire escape plan with the class.&nbsp; Your child can share this plan orally or mapped out on paper. </p>

<p>Please continue to have your child read a page of his/her poetry folder each night and remember to send the folder back to school each Monday.</p>

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><p><img title="School7" alt="School7" src="http://garrisonmill.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/08/school7.gif" border="0" /> I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!&nbsp; Last week we studied the letter Ss.&nbsp; We have studied the rainbow words an, am, at, is, go, and it.&nbsp; I will begin testing the children on the red words in a couple of weeks when all red words have been studied.&nbsp; Last week we also talked about our favorite and not so favorite things in our &quot;All About Me&quot; unit.&nbsp; The students made cute models of themselves and they are now in the hallway next to our class. </p>

<p>This week we are studying the letter Ff and learning about our five senses.&nbsp; Today your child will be bringing home a hand made of construction paper.&nbsp; Your child will either have bumpy, rough, smooth, or soft written on his/her assignment.&nbsp; Please help your child glue appropriate items on the hand.&nbsp; Directions are attached to the hand.&nbsp; This assignment will be due on Friday of this week.</p>

<p><img title="School21" alt="School21" src="http://garrisonmill.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/08/school21.gif" border="0" /> Barney the Bus will be coming to visit us on Wednesday and we will be learning about bus safety.&nbsp; </p>

<p><img title="Patriotic16" alt="Patriotic16" src="http://garrisonmill.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/09/08/patriotic16.gif" border="0" /> Thursday, September 11th is Patriotic Day so everyone wear your red, white, and blue.&nbsp; </p>

<p>I enjoyed meeting all of you at Open House last week.&nbsp; We have really gotten off to a great start this school year!&nbsp; Thank you so much for all you have done to help your child prepare for kindergarten!</p>

<p>This week we are studying the letter Mm and the sound it makes.&nbsp; Today your child will bring home Mm homework that will be due on Friday.&nbsp; Please allow your child to either draw pictures of words that begin with the letter Mm or cut Mm pictures from magazines or newspapers.&nbsp; Also, please help your child write the Mm word next to the picture.&nbsp; This week we will be finishing up Math chapter 1 on sorting and classifying.&nbsp; Our next chapter will be on patterns.&nbsp; We have also been reading classic stories such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears,&nbsp; The Three Little Pigs, and Little Red Riding Hood.&nbsp; We had tons of fun reading different versions of the classic stories and talking about the differences.&nbsp; This week we will be reading The Little Red Hen, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Tortoise and the Hare.&nbsp; We had our first trip to the computer lab on Friday and the students really enjoyed learning how to use the laptops.&nbsp; We will be going to the computer lab every other Friday. </p>

<p>I hope to see everyone at the Ice Cream Social this Thursday the 28th at 6:30p.m. in the cafeteria.&nbsp; We will be sending rest towels home on Friday to be washed.&nbsp; Please remember to send them back on Tuesday, September 2nd since we do not have school on Monday.</p>
