August 25, 2008

Week of Aug. 25-29th

School19          School20

I enjoyed meeting all of you at Open House last week.  We have really gotten off to a great start this school year!  Thank you so much for all you have done to help your child prepare for kindergarten!

This week we are studying the letter Mm and the sound it makes.  Today your child will bring home Mm homework that will be due on Friday.  Please allow your child to either draw pictures of words that begin with the letter Mm or cut Mm pictures from magazines or newspapers.  Also, please help your child write the Mm word next to the picture.  This week we will be finishing up Math chapter 1 on sorting and classifying.  Our next chapter will be on patterns.  We have also been reading classic stories such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears,  The Three Little Pigs, and Little Red Riding Hood.  We had tons of fun reading different versions of the classic stories and talking about the differences.  This week we will be reading The Little Red Hen, Jack and the Beanstalk, and The Tortoise and the Hare.  We had our first trip to the computer lab on Friday and the students really enjoyed learning how to use the laptops.  We will be going to the computer lab every other Friday.

I hope to see everyone at the Ice Cream Social this Thursday the 28th at 6:30p.m. in the cafeteria.  We will be sending rest towels home on Friday to be washed.  Please remember to send them back on Tuesday, September 2nd since we do not have school on Monday.

Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.  My door is always open.

Thanks for your support,

Jill Rodgers
