Class News Letter

Football12

Dear Parents,

During the month of October, our themes will include Families and Friends.  Gradually, the children will learn how their community is made up of many different groups of people.  Fall Fun will continue throughout the month with many pumpkin activities and culminate with our trip to the Pumpkin Patch on 10/29 and Pumpkin Centers on 10/31.  Included in our Georgia Standards for Kindergarten is the identification of holidays and customs associated with various special days.  Students are invited to bring costumes to wear during our Pumpkin Centers on the 31st.  They should wear regular clothes to school and bring their costume in a bag.  Please do not send masks or any "weapon" type props.  Wearing costumes is optional.  However, if the child brings a costume he/she should be able to put it on by himself.  Other grade levels are not permitted to bring costumes to school.  Please let us know if you have any questions.

Our Letter of the Week will be Miss A with her ah-choo sound.  Our Words  of the Week are I, TWO, and AND.  Tomorrow is a P.E. day and we will go to the media  center for book checkout.  Please remember to send a clean towel on Mondays along with the Poem and Song Book.

Wee Deliver has begun and you can send your child a letter @ 104 Thunder River Road-Happy Gap, Georgia 30001.  Letters can be placed in the small blue mailbox in the lobby.  Some students received mail today and were thrilled.  The Fall Festival is a week from tomorrow, October 6th, from 5-8:00PM.  Our Fun Run is this Saturday with registration beginning at 8:00AM.

Have an AWESOME week.

Sincerely,

Phyllis Nichols, Kathy Ennis, and Bonny Pearson

Dear Parents,

We are appreciating all the volunteer help for center time.  It is so helpful to the students.  Thanks.

Next week we will continue our study of the fall season.  We will also learn about apples since it is near apple picking time in Georgia.  Next Friday we will make apple pizzas . We will graph our favorite apples and use them to make the apple pizzas. We will send you a note about this homework next week.

Our Words of the Week are ONE and YELLOW.  We are continuing our study of patterning in math.  Our Letter Person for next week is Mr. C with his cotton candy sound.  Tomorrow is a music day in specials.

Wee Deliver, our own school mail system, begins Monday.  You can send your child a letter through our system.  The address book is in the lobby along with the big blue mailbox.  I will send you a copy of all our students addresses as soon as I get it.  The children LOVE to get mail.   Today is Carvel Ice Cream Spirit Day beginning at 3:00 P.M.  PTA is sponsoring this with proceeds being given back to the school.

Have a COLORFUL week.

Sincerely,

Phyllis Nichols, Kathy Ennis, and Bonny Pearson

Dear Parents,

Next week our theme will be colors and fall.  We will meet Mr. T with his tall teeth sound.  The Words of the Week are RED and YELLOW.  In math we will begin to study patterning.  State standards say that students will identify, create, extend, and transfer patterns from one representation to another using actions, objects, and geometric shapes.

Tomorrow we will have High Touch, High Tech in the media center.  The students will perform various experiments using their five senses.  It will be alot of fun for them.  Thanks for your support for this in-school field trip.

Just a few reminders:  Monday is Reading Night in the media center from 6-8:00PM.  This gives you an opportunity to read books with your child and to take an AR test with them.  Next Wednesday is an Early Release Day when the children get out of school at 12:30.  The After School Program will begin at that time for all you who use the program regularly.

Have a TREMENDOUS week!

Sincerely,

Phyllis Nichols, Kathy Ennis, and Bonny Pearson

Dear Parents,

I am so sorry I did not get this blog done yesterday.  My computer would not let me enter and it took some time for the county to  fix it.

Next week we will be studying the five senses.  State standards say that the learner will be able to identify the 5 senses and explain ways to protect the body parts related to them.  We sent home some touching hand homework which is due on Monday.  Next week we will ask for some small items for a tasting party.  Look for a letter concerning this next week. On Friday we will enjoy High Touch High Tech, our in-school field trip, in the media center.  Thanks for your cooperation  in making this happen.

We will meet Mr. F with his funny feet sound next week.  Our Words of the Week are ME and YOU.    We will go to the media center next Thursday instead of Friday.

Tonight is Dinner and a Movie Night here at school.  Dinner is at 6:30 and the movie begins at 7:00.

Have a FROGGY week.

Sincerely,

Phyllis Nichols, Kathy Ennis, and Bonny Pearson
