The students have had an awesome week. Checkpoint assessments were completed the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Iowa test scores were sent home this past week. Please contact me if you would like to discuss these results. I enjoy interpreting statistic and will be happy to go over them with you.
I read the book The Quilt Story, the students then wrote a 3 paragraph papers as a response to the book. I was floored by their insight and their ability to connect to a piece of literature.
In math, we have completed all the multiplication facts through 9. They will be tested 3 times a week on mixed facts. If they do not score 90% or better, they will have additional timed tests to complete nightly at home.
Socials Studies has been very interesting, we have learned about Fredrick Douglass and his part in history as an abolitionist. Susan B. Anthony will be the focus next week.
Class Aution is Monday and we could use several more items. If you have time, please go through toys, books, or movies to see if you can help enhance our auction items. Your contribution to this event is crucial to it's success.
Holiday party is Wednesday 9:51-10:51. The room moms have reported great participation and cooperation from you all. I personally wanted to thank each one of you for contributions you have made to our holiday celebration. I am very grateful for each and every one this year.
Homework: Several students are not completely their homework regularly. Please set aside time each night to have your child read, complete their spelling and work on the math facts. Establishing a study routine is crucial to their future study skills and study habits.
CONGRATULATIONS: Everybody has earned their 9 AR points for this 9 weeks. As a celebration our class is watching the movie The BFG. Thank you for making reading priority.
