Reminders for the Week

Fall_leaf I enjoyed seeing most of you at The Fall Festival.  I had a splendid time serving up some cotton candy and popcorn.  There were some very hungry folks at the festival.  I hope that a good time was had by all.

Our class t-shirts turned out great.  We received many compliments as we went through our day on Friday.  The students were so polite and gracious about my art work.

Poetry is our fall focus.  We gathered 3 fall leaves and will make them into a collage of colorful leaves. We are also writing Fall Poems.  Cruise by the wall outside our classroom to read our creations.

Spelling is Unit 8 this week.  Our spelling grades have been awesome.  Thank you so much for your support at home.

Guided Reading-we are continuing guided reading and this week we will focus on informational text related to rocks and minerals.  I love listening to the children read and helping them become better understand learners.

Letter writing is a focus as well.  Wee Deliver is up and running.  The students love to get mail.  Why not drop a letter to your child and it will be delivered on Thursday.  Our address is 409 Calla Way, Whistle Stop, Georgia 30003.  We have been writing during our language arts block.

Monday we have a test on Chapter 3 and a pretest on Chapter 6.  Remember that is your child scores an E on the pretest then their grade stands and they are in an extension group for chapter.

Fact buddies and timed math are great.  Almost the entire class is on multiplication.  I love the mentor ship of the fifth graders and our third graders.  Keep working on facts at home as well.

It says on our calendar that we will be studying economics this week but I have decided to continue with rocks and minerals for this week as we are right in the middle of instruction.

A thank you goes to Mrs. Hamel for creating our October calendar and to Mrs. Wood for copying for us.  This makes our classroom work much smoother.

As always, have a wonderful week and if you have questions ask.  My door is always open to you.
