Math- we will begin a unit on geometry

A geometry vocabulary dictionary will be assigned on Tuesday and will be completed throughout the unit. It will be counted as a test grade when completed. We will be learning about angles, solid and plane figures and circles. We will also learn how to use formulas for measurement, such as the area of many shapes, volume and perimeter. There will be many opportunities to show me what you know and what you learn!

Health- we will start and finish a unit on nutrition

Research Papers will be completed by the end of the week. Due to my many absences before the break we did not get to these, unfortunately.

Students may work on rough drafts at home and bring them to school with a flash drive or e-mail them to me. The editing of the paper and final draft should be done at school.

If anyone is available Tuesday or Wednesday to assist with editing please let me know. I will have my class all day on Tuesday and Mrs.Brindley's class all day on Wednesday.

We will not begin science until next week. We will start to study classification of plants and animals. There will be a short assessment of genetics on Friday of this week. I will explain the details on Tuesday.

The book fair will also be going on during this week as well as the Relay for Life teacher dessert auction! This Friday is Hat Day. Students can pay one dollar to wear their favorite Baseball Cap. Benefits American Cancer Society

Today a packet is coming home about research papers. Please read it over with your child, sign it and return it to school with your child. They will be required to have 3 different resources in the classroom by Monday 11/17. They will probably be asking for a ride to the public library soon! It will be important for them to meet each deadline that we write on their calendars in the packet. Points will be deducted from the final paper for any missed deadlines.

Science-

We are going to continue studying microoganisms until we leave for Thanksgiving break. There will be a test Thursday 11/20 on microorganisms. Each child is keeping all returned papers to use as a study guide. Having all these papers at the end of the unit will get those students extra credit on their test!

Math- We have finally entered the world of fractions! We will be doing a review of simplifying and make equivalent fractions and then adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators!

Picture retakes are on Friday 11/14

Please continue to work on good study habits at home. This time of year can be very hectic!
