Thank you for the help with the Halloween party. We had several parent helpers and tasty snacks! Thanks to the moms of Savannah, Knox, Parker, Skye, Elora and Seth for running the party. Thanks to Nena's mom for the drinks and Skye's mom for the yummy cupcakes. The kids loved it.
Remember there is no school on Tuesday, because it is Election Day.
Grandparents' and Special Friends Luncheon is at 11:55 on Tuesday, November 13th for our class. If a child's parents or grandparents cannot attend, it is nice if another significant adult in the child's life can attend.
We have been reading more nonfiction lately and working to quickly locate information. Has your child mentioned that we are writing animal reports? We are researching our animals with a book and on the internet and writing a booklet about the animal.
In math we are working on more place value strategies for addition and subtraction and applying those strategies to word problems.
In Social Studies, we are learning about the founder of the colony of Georgia, James Oglethorpe. We are also working on reading skills while studying the Social Studies biographies: asking and answering the 5W questions, stating the main idea of a mulitparagraph text, discerning the meaning of an unknown word from the surrounding context, and using text features such as captions, headings, bold print, etc.
We will start science agian after we have finished studying the biographies of James Oglethorpe, Tomochichi and Mary Musgrove.
Thank you for all of your support!
