We had a great first week of school. Everyone is settling into the school routine nicely.
Independent reading contracts were given to your child last week. Each student needs to read five books independently by October 13. Each student will need to take an AR test on two of those books, create a project (see the back of the contract for choices) for one book, and just read the two free choice books.
Upcoming tests:
There will be a spelling test on Friday. Each student received the words today. I would suggest studying a few words each night.
We will also have a chapter 1 math test on Friday. Students need to understand place value through the hundred millions.
I do give unannounced quizzes at times to assess student progress. Sometimes they are counted as a grade for the gradebook. Other times, I use the information to guide how I will go about teaching a concept.
Fire Lanes:
Please do not park in the fire lanes. Some parents have been ticketed by the police.
