Newsletter October 31-November 4th

Thanks for a wonderful conference week.  I hope you left your conference with some valuable information.  I know that we have a lot to celebrate!  I look forward to the upcoming months and the learning that will take place in the classroom.

 

In the classroom:

Math:  understanding the numbers 6-10

Handwriting/Sound/Letter:  Hh

Words of the Week:  black and green

Theme:  friends and family

Writing:  Writing about our family

 

Around Garrison Mill: 

Thursday, November 3rd: PTA at 6:30 followed by 3rd grade musical

Tuesday, November 8th:  Student Holiday

Wednesday, November 9th:  Giving Tree begins

 

Other Information:

Please send in a white pillowcase by Tuesday, November 1st

Your child may bring his/her costume to school on Monday, October 31st. We will wear them during our Halloween social.

Grandparent's Luncheon.......Friday, November 18th....invitations to come!

Please put your child's name inside his/her coat :)

 

 

Newsletter October 17-21

Wow!  What a productive week this has been in the classroom.  I am soooo proud of the learning and hard work that is taking place!

In the classroom:

Words of the Week:  white and orange

Letter/Sound/Handwriting:  Ff

Shared Reading:  Previewing a book before reading, directionality when reading and one to one correspondence

Math:  Numbers 0-5, estimation and numbers 6-10

Theme:  pumpkins/fall

Writing:  Begin making the transition from dictating to writing "familiar" words in a sentence

Around Garrison Mill:

Red Ribbon Week October 17-21

Monday:  Come to school in PJ's

Tuesday:  Wear your shirt backwards

Wednesday:  Wear a sweatsuit to school

Thursday:  Wear your favorite team jersey

Friday:  Wear as much red as possible

QSP:  Pick-up is Wednesday, October 19th

Friday, October 21st:  Box Tops are due

Friday, October 21st:  Bus Driver appreciation-please encourage your child to make a card for his/her bus driver

Nuts and Bolts:

Friday, October 21: field trip to Yahoo Farms (we still need several permission forms)

October 24-28: Early dismissal due to conferences.  I look forward to meeting with all of you. 

Mrs Pitner is here!  She looks forward to working with each student in the classroom!

Apples! Apples! Apples!

We need each student to bring in 1 apple by 10/14. We will make apple pizza during class on Friday. This is a yummy treat to end our apple unit.

Also, Mrs Rodgers last day is Thursday. We have hired Mrs Pitner as a supply teacher while Mrs Rodgers is home with the baby. She is very excited to join the Kindergarten Team. I will let you know fun information on the new baby as I hear from the momma :)
