We are in need of band-aids for the classroom.
A big THANKS to Mrs Barber for sending in needed items from last months blog!
A big shout out to our room moms-Mrs Huie and Mrs Seddon...... ya'll are AWESOME!!!!!
One last thing :) We are having a hard time getting volunteers for Literacy Centers. Since we have 3 adults in the room, I might cancel the "parent helper". I know a lot of moms are going back to work and/or have little ones at home. I am a working parent and certainly understand.....but it is hard to plan activities and only have 1 volunteer for the week. I will let you know what I decide. I would much rather you come and read to the class (if you have the time :). If the time doesn't fit your schedule, let me know and we will work something out.
Happy December! I can't believe I am decorating the classroom for the winter holidays. Before you know it, we will be getting out for our 2 week break (only 14 school days-moms).We had an outstanding week at school....the kids came back ready to LEARN.
In the classroom:
Math: 2D and 3D shapes, comparing numbers (greater than, less than and equal to) and word problems
Writing Workshop: I can't believe how this skill has taken off.....these kids are writing great stories and using learned strategies (sounding words out and resources around the room). We will concentrate on capitilazation over the next couple of weeks.
Social Studies: Statue of Liberty and Holiday Traditions
Words of the Week: look and are
Please note: We have covered ALL the red, orange and yellow words (your child should KNOW these words). Also, your child should know you, run, play and like from the green row!!!!! Please make sure you are reinforcing this skill at home....I will begin assessments soon (report card go out in January :)
