Beachside News Update: 

Math:  We are working on strategies to help us solve and write simple Subtraction problems. We are learning new vocabulary: minus/take away -, equal=, and the difference. 

Phonics:  We have been working on letters/sounds Zz, Ss.  The next few lessons will involve the following letters/sounds for Dd, Ff, Hh, and Gg.

Handwriting: We are working on forming the following letters Zz, Ss, Dd, Ff, Hh and Gg.  Did they tell you what a head line, mid line, and base line is?  

Reading: During Shared Reading time, we are reviewing how to choose the right book for ourselves and how to take care of our books in the classroom.  We are also working on our Fluency when reading and retelling a story using our Braidy Doll. 

Science/Social Studies:  We just finished up our unit on Seasons and Weather. We are now learning about the 7 continent/Oceans and Landforms.   

Writing:  We are working on developing ideas, organizing our ideas and making simple sentences from our thoughts.  Each sentence must have a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence and a period at the end.  An example of our writing this week:  Writing about the weather each day in our Weather Journal

Parent Journal:  We hope you enjoyed your first letter from your child.  Just a friendly reminder! The journal is due back to school on Tuesdays!  We were missing several journals this week.  Therefore, if you didn’t receive your journal this weekend from your child, then it wasn't return to us.  It is very important that they are returned every week.  We will write in them every Friday!

Homework:  This was our first week of Homework. We hope it went well this week.  We know the kids were very excited!  Please make sure your homework is returned to school each Friday! 

Computer Lab:  Every Friday at 8:15-9:00
