Dear Parents,
What a week we had! The students spent the week learning about the Civil War. They worked for 4 days on different reading assignments to cover the standard of the important people in the war. Several of the students found themselves in Study Hall today for not using their class time wisely throughout the week. Every day is a new lesson in responsibility. They will continue to learn these skills, but some of them need constant reminders about keeping up with their end of the educational process. I appreciate you helping with this at home by reminding them of the importance of paying attention in class, using time wisely, studying for tests, and reading on a daily basis.
We will continue the Civil War through next week with an assessment at the end of the unit next Friday. The students will know exactly what materials to study.
Next week will also be a Wordly Wise vocabulary week. Remember, the weeks rotate, spelling one week, Wordlly Wise the next. We have been hitting grammar hard this week also. Their SuperWriter workbooks have finally arrived. Please continue asking them about what they are studying in Grammar. This week was complete and simple subjects and predicates, subject nouns, direct and indirect objects. They have learned how to do "Question Answer flow" with their sentences that will help them.
Progress reports will be coming out next week.
I hope that you enjoy this beautiful Fall weekend! Have fun with your family.
