Parents,
I just wanted to let you know a little about our spelling this year. Your child took a Sitton High Frequency test today. It will be taken every Thursday (which means Target students won't do it). There is not a "list" to study, but the words recycle week after week. It is important that they look at their tests, correct it, and practice using the words every week. There will be a skill and spelling list for separate activities starting in a few weeks.
The students also did Mountain Language on their own today. We did one together last week, so the students were familiar with the format. They are able to use any resources that they want. It is important for them to take their time and use those reference books.
Also, each week they will be working through a Wordly Wise unit with an assessment at the end of the week. They can use their books with the word lists and their definitions, but it is important that they are able to use the words in context.
Your children should be able to tell you about all these requirements if you have any further questions.
