Fourth and Fifth graders have begun a unit of study on bridges called Ultimate Connections. This unit focuses on the understanding of the technological development of bridges and the impact bridges have had on society throughout history. Students will demonstrate what they learn by designing and constructing toothpick bridges that will be tested for strength. Their bridge building companies will have many of the same duties an actual company might have. They will have to meet deadlines, design within specifications, organize their labor force, and keep control of their budget.
