Parents, F.Y.I. : Fourth and Fifth Graders were recently given a long term assignment dealing with vocabulary. Each student was given a list a bridge related vocabulary words. Using this list of words they are to choose to either produce a crossword puzzle or produce a test of their own design. It must be noted that the crossword puzzle option may not be completed using a crossword puzzle production program or website. The students must generate it entirely themselves. Choosing to produce a vocabulary test offers much potential for creativity. Each student product will be exchanged within the grade level, "solved", and critiqued by a peer.
Very little, if any, time will be given to work on this project in class. It is to be done by the students on their own time. The assignment guidelines are purposely unspecific. The due date is purposely a long way off. Please refrain from helping your child by guiding their thinking, offering suggestions, reminding/nagging them, or structuring their time.
