Optional projects corresponding with our unit Beyond the Magnifying Glass have been presented to the third grade students. I am encouraging students to take on one of these projects and to really "get into it" as they learn about something of interest. In most projects research is required. Following are the choices. Please note that these are purposely vague and only starting places for students to decide how and what they want to produce.
Verbal-Linguistic
Create a dictionary of crime terms.
Describe a crime and the crime scene.
Develop a list of questions and interview a detective or police officer.
Mathematical-Logical
Select a crime and create the time line of events.
Create a logic puzzle using clues, witnesses, suspects, etc.
Bodily-Kinesthetic
Role-play the life of a famous detective.
Act out charades of real-life mysteries.
Visual-Spatial
Design a mystery board game.
Present the elements of a mystery on a poster.
Make a photo scrapbook of a crime.
Musical
Make a tape of sound effects for a mystery story.
Tell a crime story with music.
OPTIONAL PROJECTS are due November 30, 2011.
