Atcheson Advisor 1.8 (February)
It doesn't seem possible that we have been in school 119 days and only have 59 remaining in this academic year! Time certainly does fly when you are having fun!
Accelerated Reader: Please continue to work with your child on preparing for his/her test ... each time. Some children have not been passing their A.R. tests which is an area of concern for me. I want them to be successful with this program and to improve their reading comprehension skills. Our goal is 5 points by April 27th which would be 10 books , provided that each test score was 100%. If your child gets one or more wrong on the test, then they have to take additional tests to meet the goal of 5 points. Children are welcome to earn more than 5 points, too! Please continue to encourage your child to read as much as possible.
Valentine's Day: The boxes turned out great, thank you for your help. Our Special Centers were enjoyed by all so many thanks to all the parents who helped with supplies and/or who came in to help with the actual activities! The children really enjoy having " their" parents participate in the festivities.
Garrison Mill Gala: I attended the gala with a friend and we enjoyed ourselves, thoroughly. It was delightful to spent time with Garrison Mill parents and to raise money for our school at such a well organized and worth while event!
Math Facts: Please work on both addition and subtraction facts to 18.
We will now be taking weekly timed tests to monitor our progress and improve our time.
Money: Please continue to count change up to $1.00 with your child. It is easy to forget how to do it if you don't practice!
Telling Time: We have learned how to tell time to the hour and to the half hour. Please help to keep your child aware of time on a daily basis.
Sight Word Lists: I am very pleased with the progress that has been made thus far! It is important to review the words and their meanings on a weekly basis even if your child has been checked of for all 220 words!
I am hoping to see more of words actually used in their daily writing assignments. Keep up the good work!
